My last day

I can't believe how fast 9 months went. Today I finished off my school year by completing two essays and two exams, (nothing like a calm and quiet last day ;D, not). When that was done I thanked the principal, the teachers, my homeroom for the time I spent there, what really blew my socks off was the present that the international students gave me. Tatiana, Gab, Pop and Nicolas created a giant photo album of the pictures that we took throughout the year, including captions and letters from my classmates. It was awesome!! After that, we went to karaoke and took purikura for the last time. (I'll upload some pictures when I get home, since I need to pack away my computer now).

This has been one of the greatest experiences in my life and I'm grateful that I’ve been able to come here and meet so many friends (Tatiana, Gab, Pop and Nicolas); hopefully we'll meet again someday!!

New years is a time for shopping

New year's sales go from the 1st to the 4th of January.  At first I noticed that a lot of shops had lots of special bags out the front, these are called 'Fukubukuro'.  The fukubukuro bags are usually filled with supprise merchandise, which would cost a lot more under normal circumstances.   Depending on the shop, these bags can cost between 10 000 - 50 000 yen ($120 - $600 AUD).

outside

inside
I got one from the Algonquins (pronounced Arugonkinzu) shop this morning for 10 000 yen and these are the clothes that were in it.  Adding up all the price tags the clothes inside are all worth 56 350 yen ($686 AUD).  So....  This was a really good buy!

Another reason that I love this country.

New Years

Happy New year everyone!!!  Last night my homestay family and I went to the local shrines (kishibojin) for the first shrine visit of the year (Hatsumode).  We had to wait a while since so many people were there.

Then we had a huge feast for breakfast
